Privacy Policy

MailMaid is developed and operated by Glenn Chalmers ("I", "me"). This policy explains what data MailMaid accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

1. What MailMaid does

MailMaid is a desktop application that connects to your Gmail account to help you identify and unsubscribe from mailing lists, and to clean up your inbox. All processing happens locally on your device.

2. Google account access

MailMaid requests access to your Google account using the following OAuth 2.0 scopes:

gmail.readonly To read your emails and identify newsletters, marketing mail, and mailing lists
gmail.modify To archive, label, or delete emails at your direction
gmail.send To send unsubscribe requests to mailing list senders on your behalf
gmail.settings.basic To create Gmail filters or labels that keep your inbox organised after unsubscribing

3. How your data is used

MailMaid uses your Gmail data solely to provide the features described above and nothing else. Specifically:

MailMaid's use of data obtained through Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. Data storage

MailMaid stores the following data locally on your device:

No data is stored on any server operated by Glenn Chalmers.

5. Data retention and deletion

You can revoke MailMaid's access to your Google account at any time by visiting Google Account Permissions and removing MailMaid. This immediately invalidates the stored token.

To delete all locally stored data, uninstall MailMaid and delete the folder %APPDATA%\MailMaid on your device.

6. Third-party services

MailMaid communicates only with:

No other third-party services receive your data.

7. Children's privacy

MailMaid is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

If I make material changes to this policy I will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of MailMaid after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
